On Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at a U-10 team soccer practice, Connor Bell was involved in an accidental collision during normal course of play. Tragically, Connor had an unknown, pre-existing brain aneurysm that ruptured. He was attended to immediately and transported by helicopter to Children’s Hospital & Research Center in Oakland. However, he was unable to regain consciousness and passed away on Wednesday evening with his family by his side.

Our entire community was stricken by this incredible event. The children of Mill Valley are much beloved and belong to all of us. Connor was a very special child, known for his keen love of soccer, his enthusiasm and zest for life, and his wonderful family. Connor’s passing was a tragedy for all of us.

In memory of Connor, our friend and soccer teammate, the Mill Valley Soccer Club has established a competitive league scholarship fund in his honor. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to those competitive league players who, like Connor, love the game and who would benefit through an "assist" from Connor. The family would welcome all who would like to participate in the support and funding of this scholarship as a way of celebrating Connor’s life.

The Connor Bell Memorial Scholarship Fund (CBF) was created as a result of the tragic death of nine year-old Connor Davis Bell, one of Mill Valley’s 2004 Class 3 players. Within hours of Connor’s passing on August 18th, 2004, the family requested the creation of a competitive league scholarship program in Connor’s memory to ensure that every child with the ability and desire to play Competitive soccer has the opportunity to do so—regardless of their financial resources. Please help in fulfilling this overarching goal for MVSC competitive soccer.

Each year, because of the initiative which began with the Connor Bell Fund, MVSC ensures that financial need is never a barrier to playing in our competitive soccer program.

Contributions made in the name of the Connor Bell Fund ensure our continued ability to support scholarship players at this level.  Your contribution will keep the Connor Bell Fund alive, and our ability to support soccer in Mill Valley a continuing reality.
